Dr Joshua Korten began receiving chiropractic care at a very young age. His mom thought it was a good idea so his whole family would go once every few months just to “be aligned.” However, by the time he was 14, he was experiencing headaches 2-3 times per week! Advil, Ibuprofen, Alieve, and mid-day naps with the lights off become a regular experience. After a year and a half of just dealing with it, he went to see another chiropractor who took an X-ray of his neck and found that he had a severe loss of curve and moderate compression at the top of his spine. Dr Joshua Korten began getting structural corrective care immediately and within a month, he hasn’t had any more headaches. Dr Josh thought, ” Well, if someone helped me with my headaches; maybe I can help others with theirs!”
Dr. Joshua Korten eventually attended Life University in Atlanta, Georgia to study chiropractic. While studying, Dr. Korten took a special
interest in structural correction of the spine by looking to treatment methods such as Chiropractic Biophysics, and Pettibon. After watching several friends go through standard procedures of scoliosis treatment such as bracing and spinal fusions, Dr. Korten became quite passionate about desiring to help people with scoliosis. As such he spent more time outside of school learning scoliosis-focused correction methods such as those from CLEAR Institute. He graduated with honors and leadership distinctions in March of 2016. Immediately afterwards, Dr. Korten started a practice in Lexington, South Carolina focused around spinal correction, proper functional movement patterns, fitness, and holistic nutrition. After his visa expired in May of 2017, Dr. Korten moved back to Canada and chose Kelowna, British Columbia. He has been practicing with Dr Brian Banman and the great team at Aligned Chiropractic ever since.
Dr. Korten is a very passionate chiropractor and wellness educator, always desiring to lead people towards their optimum potential. He often hosts classes, lunch and learns for local businesses, and corporate wellness talks to further the posture education of the community. When not in practice you may find Dr. Korten spending some quality time with his South African wife, Hannah, working out at Kelowna Crossfit, hiking all the beautiful hills of the Okanagan, volunteering with his church’s events, or enjoying a relaxing evening walk downtown!
